Working With Us: Training
JR adopts a life long learning philosophy where technical and commercial business training is provided to all levels within the firm.
JR offers an undergraduate program that allows people who are still completing university to get a 'head start' in the Chartered Accountancy profession. Undergraduates at JR receive continual training and support from management and senior staff, while working closely with graduates and junior staff. By working full time while completing university part time, undergraduates are able to gain experience and skills that will help them through university as well as training and experience that will continue to benefit them throughout their accountancy careers.
Our graduates commence with a tailored graduate training program where they spend a good part of their first week of their working career. This training commences on a weekly basis for the first year with the firm and covers the essential core services provided to clients and provides a lead into the professional year study programme.
Our CA students receive dedicated in house support from partners and managers within the firm. JR proudly provides the Institute of Chartered Accountants with focus session leaders for every CA subject and these focus session leaders coordinate our in house CA training program.
Our senior accountants are involved in weekly technical and commercial training that is run by our seniors, managers and partners.
Our managers received monthly management training from senior partners which is about commercially running and managing a business operation.
When appropriate, our accountants also attend external training whether it be on specific technical issues or on general management. For example, in previous years some of our staff, senior accountants to managers, spent four days in a retail management course facilitated by independent retail experts
JR’s Extra Dimension Business Skills Program - Training for all staff:
This Program was created in 2007 and involves external presenters facilitating sessions on soft skills that will assist our staff as they progress through to senior levels. Sessions include content such as communication skills, dealing with conflict, delegation, leadership etc.
